Call the Rain Cover Reveal

by on Apr.28, 2013, under Announcements, Call The Rain

Call the Rain Book CoverThe water beckons…

Illista and her sister fled their homeland when invaders killed their parents and tried to enslave the girls’ innate water magic. Now disguised as servile Waki, Illista serves the Segra people on the dusty high plains, far from the warm oceans of her childhood.

One night, lured by the siren song of the Segra’s sacred lake waters, Illista sheds her Waki disguise for a swim and becomes witness to a murder attempt on the Segra chief’s only son and heir.

War looms…

Joral’s marriage to the daughter of another tribe will seal the peace between the warring nations and strengthen both halves of the Segra people against invaders from the West. When he is poisoned and nearly drowned on the night of his betrothal, a mysterious sprite of a woman saves his life.

Was the attempt on his life the workings of a rival, or was it tied to the sudden arrival of Western mercenaries who seek the missing water witches?

A secret revealed…

When Joral discovers Illista’s secret, will he sacrifice her to secure peace for his people? Or will he follow his heart for the sake of a water sprite who may be the Segra’s only hope for restoring the rains to the drought-ridden land?

New to Kobo? My favorite local bookstore, Rose’s Bookhouse, has excellent directions to get you started. If you don’t have a Kobo-branded eReader, they have apps for Windows, Mac, Android, and iThings.  (I also use their site to buy books for my Sony eReader).

Speaking of Rose’s Bookhouse, if you live in the greater St. Louis/St Charles area, you should visit! Check out their News and Events page for upcoming special events.  Owner Wendy Drew adds new signings and special events all year long.

I love books, and one of my new favorite social media sites is Goodreads. I love seeing what books my friends are reading and what they think of them.  If you’re a bibliophile like me, you should totally check it out.  While you’re there, sign up for the 2012 reading challenge. I am challenging myself to read 25 books this year, and I totally hope to blow that number out of the water.

Feel free to send me a Goodreads friend request while you’re there!

A Teaser and a Giveaway!

by on Jan.16, 2012, under Announcements, Contests, The Paris Affair

How is your January? Are you keeping your New Year’s Resolutions?

I have two treats for you today. First is a snippet from The Paris Affair. Since so many of us have resolved to exercise more in 2012, I thought I’d choose an appropriately themed scene. Here Claire, my heroine, has just finished a workout at the end of a hard week’s work, and is heading to the steam room to soothe her tired muscles.

Keep reading after the excerpt to learn how to enter to win a $10 Amazon gift card plus a Kindle copy of The Paris Affair.

“Who’s there?”

Claire jumped at the voice. In one corner, Helmut’s head swirled into view through the mist. Dark hair clung to his head, curling and damp. She could just make out his neck and the hint of more dark curls at the top of his obviously bare chest.

“You scared me,” she said lamely, quickly hopping to her feet, clasping her towel tightly above her breasts. “I didn’t see anyone in here.”

“Sorry. I was starting to doze. Don’t go on my account.”

Claire hesitated.

“If you want privacy, I can leave,” he offered. The mist cleared temporarily and she caught a glimpse of navy blue workout shorts below tanned and rippling abs.

Want to read more? The Paris Affair is for sale from Amazon here, from Barnes & Noble here, and from SoulMatePublishing (pdf, epub, mobi formats) here.

Now that I have your attention, here’s the scoop on the giveaway. To enter, leave a comment here on this blog post, sharing one of your resolutions. If you haven’t made any, just say that you are throwing your name into the hat for the giveaway.

The winner will be chosen randomly from all valid entrants who comment before 6pm Central time on Wednesday, January 18, 2012. One entry per person. One entry per comment. You must use a valid email address so that I can contact you. Open to anyone in the continental US with a valid email address. Void where prohibited. Taxes are the responsibility of the winner. Gift card and e-book arrive via email.
